Tesla’s CFO Zachary Kirkhorn Resigns, Vaibhav Taneja Takes Over

Vaibhav Taneja was named CFO in addition to his current role as chief accounting officer, Tesla said in a regulatory filing.

On August 7th, Tesla announced that Zachary Kirkhorn had left his position as the chief financial officer. The company appointed Vaibhav Taneja, who was in charge of accounting, as the new head of finance. This news caused Tesla’s stock to decrease by 1% in pre-market trading.

The Chief Financial Officer of Tesla is leaving the company after working there for 13 years, during which they were involved in making electric vehicles and solar panels.

Kirkhorn held the CFO position for the last four years and regularly took part in the company’s quarterly earnings conference calls. He will continue to work at Tesla until the end of the year to help with a smooth transition, as stated by the company.

In a post on LinkedIn, Kirkhorn expressed his pride in the work accomplished during his time at the company, saying, “Being a part of this company is a special experience and I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done together since I joined over 13 years ago.”

Vaibhav Taneja has been appointed as the new CFO alongside his current role as the chief accounting officer, according to a regulatory filing made by the company on Monday.

Taneja became a part of Tesla when the company bought SolarCity in 2016. Now, he is not only the chief accounting officer but also the new CFO, according to Tesla’s announcement.
